SMS Consent Flow
Last updated: May 6, 2026
Overview
This page documents the consent flow for SMS messages sent by HouseBrief, in compliance with A2P 10DLC requirements.
How consent is collected
HouseBrief is an iOS app for household handoffs. SMS messages are sent only when an account holder (the sender) explicitly initiates a handoff to a recipient they know personally (a sitter, dog walker, family member, or contractor).
Consent is collected manually by the sender, who:
- Manually enters the recipient's name and phone number into the iOS app. There is no contacts auto-import, no address book scan, and no third-party data sources.
- Confirms permission via an in-app disclosure shown directly above the Send button: "By tapping Send, you confirm you have permission to text this recipient about household handoffs."
- Reviews a confirmation alert showing the literal SMS body that will be sent, then taps Send a second time to dispatch.
Screenshots from the iOS app
1. Send SMS form with consent disclosure. The disclosure ("By tapping Send, you confirm you have permission to text this recipient about household handoffs.") is shown immediately below the Send SMS button before the sender taps it.

2. Pre-dispatch confirmation alert. After tapping Send, the sender sees a confirmation alert showing the exact body that will be sent to the recipient. The body includes the sender identification ("Daddy D from The Evans"), the link to the brief, the time window, "Reply STOP to opt out," and "Reply HELP for help." The sender must tap Send again to dispatch.

Opt-out
Every initial SMS includes "Reply STOP to opt out." Recipients who reply STOP are added to Twilio's carrier-managed deny list and receive no further messages.
Help
Every initial SMS includes "Reply HELP for help." Replying HELP returns: "HouseBrief: For help, email hello@housebrief.app. Reply STOP to opt out."
