Privacy Policy

HouseBrief is a household handoff app made by Deston Evans (sole proprietor) operating in Virginia, USA. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using HouseBrief, you agree to the practices described here.

Account information: phone number (for sign-in via SMS verification), name (you choose during onboarding).

Household data you create: profiles (kids, pets, home), cards (notes you write about routines and instructions), handoffs (records of briefs you send, including recipient name and phone number you provide).

Recipient information: when you create a handoff, you provide the name and phone number of the person you're sending information to. We use this only to deliver the handoff to that person.

Technical data: device type, app version, basic usage analytics (which features are used, when crashes happen). We do not track your location.

• To provide the core HouseBrief service (storing your data, sending handoffs to recipients you've named).
• To send SMS messages on your behalf to handoff recipients.
• To improve the app (anonymous usage analytics).
• To communicate with you about your account.

• We do not sell your data to third parties.
• We do not share your data with advertisers.
• We do not use your household information for marketing.
• We do not use AI training on your private content without explicit opt-in.

HouseBrief relies on a small number of trusted third-party providers:

• Supabase (database and authentication) — stores your account and household data
• Twilio (SMS delivery) — sends handoff notifications to recipients
• Anthropic (optional, for future AI features) — only when you opt in to AI assistance, and only with zero-retention enabled

These providers process data only on our behalf, under their own privacy policies.

• Access: you can view all your data within the HouseBrief app.
• Deletion: you can delete profiles, cards, handoffs, or your entire account at any time. Account deletion permanently removes all your data within 30 days.
• Correction: you can edit any information you've entered.
• Portability: contact hello@housebrief.app to request an export of your data.
• Opt-out of SMS: recipients can reply STOP to any HouseBrief message to opt out of all future messages.

Active account data is retained while your account is active. Deleted account data is permanently removed within 30 days. Handoff records retain a basic audit log (sender, recipient, time) for 90 days for security purposes, then are deleted.

HouseBrief is intended for adults (18+) who manage households. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact hello@housebrief.app.

We may update this policy. We'll notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
